The Intelligent Healthcare Practice is Launched

Semantech Inc. is proud to announce the launch of a next generation Healthcare IT practice - Intelligent Healthcare. This practice is a collaboration with our partner, The Teksouth Corporation and stems from our work on cutting edge Healthcare integration research conducted over the past year.

The Intelligent Healthcare (IH) practice is separated into five centers of excellence:

1. Healthcare IT Strategy
2. Healthcare Enterprise Architecture
3. Semantic Integration
4. Lifecycle Management
5. Healthcare Intelligence (analytics, Informatics)

The mission of the practice is to empower the Healthcare industry by helping to improve patient outcomes while reducing costs. We believe that the key to achieving these critical goals is through more accurate management of data and through improved processes that can "learn" from insights gained from the medical community.

Semantech & CCS Consortium Launch Cyber Security Practice

This week, a coalition of three innovative small businesses has launched a new IT consulting practice dedicated to providing holistic, enterprise-wide Cyber Security solutions. The Comprehensive Cyber Security or CCS Practice is built around an industry-unique methodology and cutting edge technologies that take advantage of Web 2.0 and Semantics to provide Cross Domain security capabilities.

Along with the new practice, the CCS consortium will be publishing a new online journal dedicated to Cyber Security issues beginning in October, 2009. The Cyber Security Journal will highlight challenges and breaking events covering both government and commercial Cyber Security management.

Stephen Lahanas, co-founder of Semantech, will act as the CCS Practice Director / Principal consultant. According to Mr. Lahanas; "the CCS Practice will, for the first time, begin to unify enterprise IT security practices and will further facilitate the merger of mission, process and technology."

Semantech Publishes Article in Data Strategy Journal

Semantech Inc. Launches Government Policy Practice

Semantech Inc. is proud to announce a new corporate practice dedicated to advancing public policy initiatives through innovation. The Semantech Public Policy Practice (or PPP) has been designed to support governmental reforms and agency redefinition. The practice is not a lobbying exercise, but rather is meant to support existing federal agencies with the details of making change happen, starting with strategy and following through with precise plans for execution.

According to Stephen Lahanas, Semantech's principal consultant; "We believe strongly that change needs to occur, that it will occur but for that change to succeed there will need to be a great deal of innovative thinking tempered with pragmatism by folks who know how to get things done. We feel that we can bring this mix of ideas and execution to bear for any number of federal initiatives and we're looking forward to turning challenges into opportunities."

Semantech Launches Major Healthcare Integration Project

Semantech Inc. has launched a significant research project in partnership with the Teksouth Corporation on behalf of the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD). The contract, part of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, is dedicated to developing a Next Generation Healthcare Information Integration architecture.

The goals of the project include:

• Providing a Semantic Foundation for Healthcare Integration
• Redefining the metaphors for Healthcare management and analytics
• Integration of disparate EMRs within a new, holistic context
• Provision of diagnostic process tools for visual capture and management of caregiver knowledge
• The ability to analyze care trends at both the individual and group level

The Principal Investigator for the project, Stephen Lahanas, described the potential value of the effort in these terms: "The number one challenge in Healthcare Information Management today is complexity, our goal is to tackle that complexity head-on by providing a new paradigm for system and knowledge integration. The ultimate value of this type of solution is focused first on quality of care improvements and secondly on efficiency and cost reduction."

The Global AIM Reference Architecture Initiative
